Can Rain Boots be Fashionable?

They may come close this year, with all the fantastic new designs I've seen. From simple polka dots, to tattoo-inspired art, rain boots have taken on a new life! These are a few of my favorites, pulled from Amazon.com. The unpredictable and crazy weather I've seen while visiting Vancouver has prompted me to consider getting a pair myself. But if I catch anyone wearing these when there is no rain or mud or snow they will get a talking to from me ;-) (OK, maybe I won't go up to a complete stranger and lecture them, but my friends will be sure to hear about it!)

Here are some of my favorites:

This bad-ass, whimsical print is sure to bring out your inner rocker-chick

A fun new twist on traditional polka dots is sure to liven up the dreariest day

A beautiful pair of classic red boots is spot on with the new dye-dipped trend

These french-inspired designs are sure to illicit envy

Top 5 Reasons to Wear Dark Denim

1) Dark jeans are easy to dress up or down, unlike lighter washes which are a more casual look
2) Dark uniform washes make your legs look long and lean! Fading, whiskering, and other paraphernalia draw attention to these lighter areas - lighter areas on the hips and thighs make you look bigger than you are.
3) If you are a fan of faded jeans, naturally faded jeans always look better than factory-faded jeans.
4) Dark denim will always be in style, unlike the current trendy light washes, so you can wear them for years!
5) The chemical treatments used for fading in the factory is hard on denim, making it likely that your trendy jeans won't last half as long as your classic dark denim. Read more

Style has a new name, and it's name is Ecco

I was in downtown Vancouver this weekend, enjoying my weekly shopping ritual when I happened upon some fabulous shoes. Image my suprise when I discovered these beautiful specimens are made by Ecco, a well-known comfort line. After being disappointed by the styles from many comfort lines, it is nice to know that Ecco is finally getting it right! Here are a few of my favorites (I have a weekness for knee-highs, can you tell?):

P.S. They also have amazing bags:

Red-hot for Fall

Red is the must-have colour this season for accessories, shoes, and layering pieces. Check out the thoughtful details on this handbag - the colours add some punch to any outfit, while the look is subdued enough to go with almost anything. And what can I say about a red velvet jacket. I was so taken with this item that I spent two days traveling to two different shopping malls to find my own. Deep red is a fantastic choice because it spices things up and at the same time is a pseudo-neutral, so you don't have to worry so much about matching.

Many things to love in one outfit

Large belts are very in this season, and it's not hard to see why. When worn under the rib cage they accentuate the smallest part of your waist, and studded belts like this one can add some interest to a basic sweater or cardigan. Layering similar styles of jewelry of various lengths is a bright idea, because it adds a slightly eclectic feels to an outfit, and can make an ensemble uniquely you. I'm also fond of this open-knit sweater, which adds femininity and a nice texture to this outfit.
